Four hearty PIGS met in the fine surroundings of The Times bar on rue Tessiers - club leather chairs, handsome waiters and a good wine list. What more do you need? It's a great bar even when you can't get a table outside; the cosy inside makes up for the people watching exterior. And boy was Montpellier on people watching form. It'd been Gay Pride during the day and the town was just fuller than usual with beautiful people - including us PIG ladies!
O Chocolat had to close due to lack of staff so we were left without a table to go to. More importantly there was a risk that Big-Pig wasn't going to get her chocolate fix. Bad news. Luckily La Tomate on rue des fours des flammes stepped in and gave us nuture. The food is basic but OK, and certainly good value. The place has been open 56 years and the current owner has no idea why it's called La Tomate. It's a Montpellier instituion and is always packed. Although, next time I'll plump for the salade gourmand + desert carte instead of the 3-course 13,60 euro option. Even at that price I expect a little more flavour to my food. But hey, we had fun and this isn't a resto review blog! I had a good time and learned eveything there is to know about what lawyers do at conferences in Copenhagen. Entertaining on toast!
Next time more PIGs and more O Chocolat please... When Legal PIG has recovered from the horse landing on her foot she is going to make us dance our little piggy socks off. Be warned!
