THINGS WORTH KNOWING ABOUT No 1: BIRTHDAY PARTIES AT AGROPOLIS

Apparently, when it comes to celebrating children's birthdays, there are other, worthier alternatives to McDonalds. Instead of giving precious cash to the Evil Empire for one of their bashes, or even attempting to host a party chez vous (perish the thought if you live in a garden-free apartment, like we do), you can book your child's birthday party at the Agropolis Museum (www.museum.agropolis.fr) on a Wednesday or Saturday. They do something educational and wholesome which involves making something called (I think) Le Gateau du Monde, it's for groups of 8 children or more, and costs 8 euros per child. So for 64 euros minimum, you get a Valid Learning Experience and some Good, Clean Fun. No E numbers or grotty plastic toys. Not sure what the minimum age is, although for the museum itself it's 3 years. Call ahead to book 04 67 04 75 00.
