It will be the last Pig before the half term holidays.

As some of you may know already , school will start on Wednesday 2nd November so there will be no Pig that day.

The meetings at La Maison des enfants will then take place on 9th and 23rd November.

For those of you who still have not filled in the forms, please do so before the end of the month and send off, you know the Christmas show in December is not that far away, not only will you see Father Christmas but Billy and John will be taking part in the show, that's worth going for.

Dear All

Pig will take place at La Maison des Enfants on Wednesday, I hope some of you were there to help Richard and Cecile on Sunday with the garden. In any case it will be great to see what has been done.
We're now fast approaching the summer holidays so here are the dates for the last few pigs meetings of the year.

25th May Maison des Enfants from 3.15pm to 5.15pm

1 June Um somewhere cool and shady, ideas please??? (otherwise no meeting)

22 June Last meeting at La Masion des Enfants

29 June Aha the last PIG of the year and perhaps the last time for some of you to see those who are leaving over the summer, Anu and Krystyna notably. It would be lovely for someone to host it at their house, no pressure (person who lives in Lattes with a pool) Although there is Koaland in Palavas which could be fun, maybe in the morning instead of the afternoon, have a look at the site (http://www.koaland-palavas.com/) and let me know what you think. I could play the part of the beached whale??

One last word, I may not be able to make it to all of the PIG meetings due to feeling very lethargic sometimes and a big workload, if I can't I will tell you, but could someone take "my place" and close up the school.

I don't like to think that Richard and Cecile should have to stay to the end of PIG so happy to instruct said person on how to lock up the school.

Take note of the dates and I might not be sending out a mail every week from now.

Dear All

I am being a lazy organiser , hell I've got an excuse.
Pig will be meeting at Parc Moncalm this Wednesday for more Richard Attenborough adventure, red beetles and tree sap .
I think in this weather better to find some shade so we'll be sitting after the race track under one of the trees.

Come along as it was good fun last time and the children all had a great time.

Hello

Phew, school is back. Now many of you went away for the holidays but we stayed here and as much as I enjoyed the lie in's etc I am glad to get back to the old routine and I had at least one boy skipping to school this morning.

I would like to say a huge congratulations to Emer, Lionel and Penelope on the birth of Rory last Friday. Emer and Rory are doing very well and probably went home today. I think mot of you have her email address or phone number.

Of course I'm wishing for July so that I can see my bundle of joy, sorry ladies I still believe the scan over the ring.

Anyway, back to PIG. We will be meeting at La Masion des Enfants on Wednesday comme d'hab. from 3.15pm onwards.

I am thinking perhaps Park Montcalm for the following Wednesday, those explorers had a great time last time we were there, or other ideas welcome.

Hello Everyone

It is time to get my PIG hat on after three weeks away, we are all looking forward to seeing you all and catching up on news and tummy sizes (directed to the pregnant ones).

PIG will be meeting at La Maison des Enfants this Wednesday from 3.15pm onwards.

As you all know my life is going to get even busier this summer with another baby and no doubt a busier workload.

It is mainly for this reason that I would like to pass the organisation of PIG to someone else. I would be happy to assist with the administrative side but would like a new fresh and enthusiastic person to take over the weekly/fortnightly meetings.

It does not take up much time but with three children and one who is nearly outgrowing PIG I feel like I will be less available.

I have loved running PIG, it is so satisfying to meet new people and see the positive effect joining PIG has on them and the children. PIG can grow in anyway and so if one of you is interested to take over and has different ideas for how to run it then please come and chat to me.

If you all ignore me on Wednesday then I will still come and tap on your shoulder to see if you're the one to take over..........

As mentioned before, PIG will meet up in the park this week.
Bring bikes, scooter, footballs, running shoes, whatever to keep is warm while we are there. I'll bring a thermos of tea if I can remember.
Below is the link of how to get there.

The best is to enter the park from Rue des Chasseurs, the entrance is almost below the bridge. You'll see some green double gates with a tiny sign. Drive through there a car fits even if only one gate is open), after about 20m you'll see a car park. We'll meet there at 3.30pm.

If you're late, just walk on and you'll see us.

PIG will be meeting at La Maison des Enfants Montessori school on Wednesday afternoon, from 3.15pm- 5.15pm.

Paula may well do another dance activity with the children as it was a success last time and Krystyna is going to read some Canadian Christmas stories so it will be fun fun fun.

Clarification on new venue situ.

Most of you will know that PIG has moved to the Montessori school.

The next time we will meet there is NOVEMBER 24th from 3.15pm until 5.15pm.

As before we will meet at the school only twice a month (8th December). The other Wednesdays in the month are open to ideas, so if one person has an idea please send out a mail to the group. Due to an increased workload I will not be organising these Wednesday meet ups anymore, like you all if I fancy doing something I will let you know.

Secondly, as we are now using a space that is within a school, certain rules apply and we all need to respect Richard's space. A cleaner does not come in after us and I don't expect him to rearrange or spend more time in there after we leave. It is his day off after all.

Furthermore, if your children need to run around, take them outside and try and keep them more calm inside. This brings me to the idea that each of you could propose an activity to do with the children. Liza, I'm thinking 20 mins of baby yoga or Paula, some dance or just playing a game that you bring. Any ideas would be fun so come forward.............

In future we may meet from 3-5pm because of the shorter nights and traffic.

So here we are again, it is Pig time already.

Tomorrow is Eloise's 2nd birthday, unfortunately Wendy and gang can't come because Wendy has glandular fever- a real shame.

I thought we could all meet in Lattes, seeing as half of Pig lives there, it is an obvious choice.

For those of you whose children need to move, you can always bring bikes or wheels and go for a walk along the nature path.

It is the time of year for me to collect subscription forms for Pig, I have attached the three forms that you need to fill out. If in doubt, just mark Pig as the activity. The annual fee is 25€ per family and 4€ per child for the MPT subscription.

Last Saturday I was present at the AGM for Outbound, all of you are members of the association and it is important to have your support. Without Outbound and the support of Nathalie, the founder, we would not have the International section for the Lycée and collége that opened last last year which some of you may be hoping to use as your children get older. the next project i to open an International Primary school!

If any of you have free time to give, then why not help out with Outbound, you do not need to donate much time but help with the administrative side would be appreciated.

On the same note, do tell people about the classes that Outbound offer, for children aged 6-11, Anglophone or French. It is about learning English in a classroom set up and still maintaining an element of fun.

I was also told that PIG is invited to the Christmas party on 4th December and that they would like to see the Pig children perform a little show, maybe Jingle Bells- so let's get working.

I hope the emotions of the first week of school have settled down, we are still battling with extreme tiredness at the end of the day, and there was me thinking the holidays were full on.

I had mentioned in my last mail that we would meet in the morning on alternate weeks. However I am finally taking the plunge and enrolling Billy into an "activity"- well, if I can get a place. I resisted last year as I like the liberty of doing something different every week and seeing people that I don't see very often. Also it has to be said that most of you might be doing the same, Wednesday mornings seem to be the most popular time to do classes.

So it is back to meeting in the afternoon, this week I thought a visit to the beach would be fun, it is so lovely at the moment that having warm sand under our feet, and then in the car, the house................

Hello All

It was lovely to see those that came to PIG on Wednesday, it felt like a lifetime since we had all met up, when in fact it was only a month!

PIG's first meet up at Melina Mercouri is on Wednesday 8th of September from 3.30pm onwards.

Most of you know the story, bring your own snack and drink, toys if you wish or wheels.

Also if you know of anyone who would be interested in coming to PIG who has not been before, bring them along.

I always feel at the start of the school year, that it is a time for good resolutions, for me it is doing the ironing, but for the children I think, learn something new, less television etc.

So if any of you have ideas for something we can do as a group at PIG, tell me.
Rachel mentioned too about book swopping for the Mum's really so if you want to lend out/borrow some books on Wed, do so.

Keep the ideas coming, it is what PIG needs.

Last week I went to Le Base des Besiiles for a day out, it was great, a huge open green space (yes green and grass) and to top it off there was an outdoor pool with kiddy pool, more grass and shade for a picnic.

So I was thinking of going back on Monday. It takes 45 mins from Montpellier so maybe too far for some people but I thought I would say anyway.

So it was decided today that we will have PIG next Wednesday on the beach.

We'll meet from 9am onwards, bring a picnic and buckets and swimming stuff, I don't want to be the only one swimming by the way!

So I know this great park near St Jean de Vedas which is quite bike friendly too and to top it off it is right next to a tram stop.

Easiest thing would be to park in the museum carpark and then head in towards the museum building, at the very end beside the (closed) restaurant there are two green gates to the left. Go through them and you'll be at the house.

Hi Everyone

I hope to see most of you tomorrow at Jen's for out last meeting of 2009.

I have just been on the phone to an English butcher based in Western France. He says he would be interested in delivering to Montpellier. Hello Everyone

I cannot believe it is September already. I am quite glad really (not because it is back to school but because it is cooler).

Pig is on this Wednesday at the maison pout tous Melina Mercouri ( opposite IBM). It starts at half past three in the afternoon and runs until about five thirty or six.

Bring toys, games or books or whatever you think might entertain the children- feel free to propose ideas! and bring a snack / drink of some sort as there are no eating facilities there.

For those of you who have been before, you know the score.
You can download membership forms from www.ieam.info It is still 25 euros and on top 4 euros for each child to have a maison pour tous card.
For any newcomers, you are welcome to come to PIG and see if you like it. If you do the same applies. All forms can be given to me.

You can subscribe to the PIG blog at www.piglanguedoc.blogspot.com. If on the other hand you do not want to receive any emails from PIG, just let me know.

This Wednesday, our outing will be at Parc Levant in Palavas, we have met there once before with PIG so most of you know where it is.

For those of you who don't , as you drive to Palavas from Montpellier, at the big roundabout, turn right. Keep driving until you see the pottery shop on the right, take the slip road there and park anywhere on the road.

You will see the park which is surrounded by iron gates. If you are late, just head towards the playground and call me on 06 19 45 92 18

It is a fun park with a playground, some animals, great bike path and lots more.
I will be there from 2.30pm until 4.30/5pm.

I thought that it might be quite nice to go to the beach for PIG's fortnightly outing, it is not too hot and the beach is always fun.

The older children can bring their bikes along as there is a safe pedestrian path that run along side the beach and of course a bucket and spade.

The best meeting point will be on the rive droit at Palavas which is very near the children's hospital (red building); There is a yellow slide/play area which will be the most obvious place to meet.

I'll be there from 2.30 ish. Email me if you are not sure where that is and to get my mobile number.

Hello Friends,

I hope you all had a lovely Easter and Holidays. We stayed in Montpellier and tried our best to avoid the rain and catch the snails in our garden.

Now there are no more school holidays until the end of term, PIG will be meeting every Wednesday, one week at Melina Mercouri and the other week somewhere else. Check the blog for details on that.

The next meeting is Wednesday 22nd of April at Melina.

I think there is a strong possibility that I will not be there as my Mum is here for a few days and we want to make the most of her visit. Would someone like to host? Don't worry, there is nothing to do, just be very welcoming to any newcomers.

PIG will take place this Wednesday (1st April) in the grounds of the Chateau du Terral.

I am hoping the weather is good as I hope no plan B yet, ideas anyone? Bring along a rug, toys not really needed, chocolate eggs if you want, although there will be some hidden.

It will start at 3pm, so we could meet in the car park then, for any late comers, just make you way through the gates and head down to the bottom where there is a big grassy area.

I am hoping you all come, and any newcomers too who have not yet made it.

For a change and to celebrate the new weekly Pig meeting, we will be meeting tomorrow, the 18th MARCH Domaine du Grammont from 3pm.

For those of you who have not been before it is a large wood with lots of paths and grassy bits, t is nice for a walk and a run and of course there is the lovely Chateau du Grammont to look at too.

If you are late, call and we an arrange a meeting place in the park.

We three pigs are back from our trip to England, it was lovely and now I have a hot flush when I think of having to talk French all the time.

Of course our trip was full to the brim of various illnesses, including Chickenpox for Billy; He is not contagious anymore so he will be coming to Pig on Wednesday, Thomas is showing no signs yet.

It's that time of year again, rushing in the mornings. trying to find
their school bags (ours never has anything in it!)

Due to a large number of party Pigs , the party will take place at Melina Mercouri on Wed 17th December from 3.30pm until 5.30pm.
If one of you has some paper plates, please bring them, as for drinks, I 'll bring my flask of tea and I think it is easier for each child to have their own drink.
For those of you unsure of what snack to bring, just bring savoury or sweet - it is your choice and probably not too much of it.
I will bring a CD player too, so if anyone has a xmas Cd, bring that too.

We're back!

After a fun holidays, (but it was, even with rain) PIG is back.
We'll be meeting on Wednesday 12th at MPT Melina Mercouri at 4pm and we have the room till 6pm.

Well the first rendez-vous with me as the hosting Pig was a success, we saw some new faces and had a good play around at the MPT. We are lucky that there is some outdoor space to make the most of the these last warm days.

The following meetups are:

October 1 - We will meet again at the MPT Melina Mercouri, we have the room from 4-6pm so come along. Bring along some games, favourite books, gouter…….

October 15- Weather permitting, how about a trip to Le Petit Paradis. I am a city Pig so it is nice to go the “ country” and see the animals. If there are more than 10 of us ( adults and children) we get a special tarif, so do let me know in advance if you can come. Let’s say 3.30/ 4pm in the parking.

November 12- Usual meeting place at MPT Melina Mercouri 4pm

November 26- Fancy a change of scenery , which Pig would like to offer their house for two hours of fun? Email me .

Hello All PIG Friends

As promised, Pig is back with me taking the lead. I hope to be as good a host as Helen aka Big Pig.

Well the children are all back at school now and routine has set in, so why not add to that the regular rdv at MPT Melina Mercouri every other Wednesday.
The first rdv will take place on 17 September from 4pm and will run until 5.30pm . We have the room at the side as you all know but if it is a fine day we can play outside too.
Bring along games, books and toys if you want and of course a big smiley face.

You can bring your bikes or scooters along and ride along the nice flat paths, or just look at the funny rabbits, or play in the small playground or even run along the bridge to the small castle.

It's June so that means end of year party time!

Chantal has generously invited us to celebrate the fete at her house - contact me for the address and directions.

Fun starts around 16h, this Wednesday June 18. Bring your gouter and swimming kit.

There's much to celebrate - the end of a fun year with new faces joining us and old ones moving on. I have to say I feel very emotional about this, after all 5 years ago when I started PIG I didn't know if this was worthwhile or if it would work. But it's been wonderful, I've made some terrific friends and I know that long friendships have started thanks to PIG. I doubt I shall be able to keep away but from September Lulu-PIG will be taking the reigns.

I've often been asked why I haven't tried to make PIG earn money for me. This is not the point of PIG. It's about meeting people on an informal basis, without feeling obliged, without having to stress about insurance and delivering a 'product'. Now that PIG is with Outbound there's the membership fee of a piffling 25euros. But that let's us use the MPT on a regular basis and avoid trashing our homes every time it rains.

The best PIGs are where the children are happy together playing (in English even sometimes) and us parents get to hang out over a cup of coffee and just relax for once. There's little time for that in our busy lives, so let's enjoy it. Long may PIG continue!

Hello PIG chums, here are the coming weeks for your PIG diaries.

May 31 - Outbound AGM at the MPT. Please come along to help plan the future of the organisation. It's from 10-12 and you are all very welcome.

June 4 - MPT PIG, games, books, chat and mayhem... yep a normal PIG, from 16h to around 17h30

June 8 - Outbound picnic at the Base de Bessilles, see the newsletter for info.

June 18 - End of year party at Big Pig's house. Bring cake, bonbons and any other forbidden substances you can carry. It's my final PIG - after 5 years! - so let's have some fun.

Or should that be piggin'May for all these holidays that are cutting the month up. It feels like school is already over and ready for the big summer holiday!

May 7 - meet at the Maison Pour Tous, around 4pm. The husband will be there looking bemused, so be gentle on him ladies! After all this time, this is his first PIG, and about time too.

May 21 - how about heading to Meze Dinosaur Park for the afternoon? Let me know what you think so I can warn the dino-folk how many piglets are heading their way.

Holiday PIG - Weds 23 April - Zoo

Let's so something scandalous and meet during the holidays! At the last PIG we all thought it would be a lovely idea to meet at the Zoo du Lunaret, Montpellier on Wednesday 23 April. 4pm at the front gate should do it and give us enough time to scare all the animals.

It's great to see so many little PIGlets coming along to the group. For those of you planning on joining the group this late in the year you don't have to pay the OUTBOUND membership fee (phew) but just the 4euros per child for the Maison Pour Tous. Then come September you can sign up fully to the association.

Helen will not be running PIG from September so we need a new Big Pig! After founding the group in 2003 the time has come to move on to other things. Who wants to run the group? A new face with lots of energy and ideas for meeting places and activites. With a sea of new families perhaps someone will be willing to take up the reins. It's not hard!

See you at the zoo, zoo, zoo... you can come too, too, too... time for some new jokes too!

Pigs n Egg hunting! Wednesday March 19

Well they go together like chocolate and chocolate of course!

I've delayed putting this up as I was trying to work out if there was going to be a gale, a howling gale or tornado going on for PIG this week. I can't decide and neither can the weather, so I shall play it safe (for who?!) and invite all you PIGS to my place for an Easter Egg Hunt.

Come along around 4pm with a few eggs to hide in the garden and then we'll cunningly distract the children - I have some worthy stuff to do of course! - while someone hides the eggs.

Mardi Gras and Valentines PIG!

And why not! Let's have an all in one party where the children dress up and throw confetti, scoff cake and then if they're feeling creative/amoureuse they can make a Valentine's card. Yes I know it'll be messy but it should be lots of fun too.

I hope Father Christmas treated you all well. I'm suffering from too much foie gras and too many excited children. Phew, back to PIG and normal life again for the few weeks before half-term.

Let's meet at the MPT on January 9th as usual (bring your new games to share) and then it would be great fun to have a Galette des Rois PIG party on January 23. Anyone want to volunteer their home?

BonBon outing Wednesday, December 19

I spend all year denying my children bonbons so what better way to make it up to them/prove that I am a hypocrite than to take them to the Haribo Museum for a Christmas outing treat!

The Haribo Museum is near Uzes (click here for website and details) Let's meet there at 14h - they know we're coming! I know it's early, but perhaps for once the children can have their nap in the car. If we wait until they've all slept then we'll never get there!

Entrance fee should be 3euros per child age 5+ and 4 euros for the first 3 adults with 2 free - if we share the adult rate amongst us, that makes it much fairer all round.

I have space in my car for 1 adult and 1 child, if anyone wants to share the journey.

It should be a fun afternoon out - see you there. The extra news is that hopefully some new PIG folk will be joining us there. Hurrah!

Christmas party

Hurrah! Saturday December 1 at the MPT is Christmas Party time. Kick off 12h.

Bring along something sweet or savoury to share at the potluck lunch table. Father Christmas has promised to drop-in, but as it's before the 25th you need to bring a present, labelled with the name of your child/children. That way you know what they'll get - last year there one some odd surprises and a few small children who didn't konw what to do with their monkey chair/picture frame/sword!

If you haven't already, let me know if you can come so we make sure there's room for you.

Holiday time already!

How did that happen? Where did the term go?! All of a sudden it's winter.

The next PIG meet will be at the MPT on November 7 and 21 as normal. Then the MPT on December 5 and somewhere else on December19 (Christmas party - howabout the Haribo factory at Uzés?!)

The PIG brico afternoon at my house was great fun. If anyone wants to invite us to their house one afternoon we'd all be delighted to come!

Weds 17 October - not the MPT!

Hello PIG chums, it's nearly the holidays already ('fraid so) and time for some Halloween fun. Come along to my house in Prades (contact me for the address if you need it) around 15h30 with your gouter and some ideas for Halloween things to make.

Howabout a sock ghost! Bring that odd white sock and some ribbon and we can turn it into a ghoul.... or a bat mask, bring some black paper and elastic if you have some..... or just good old colouring in pictures of witches, bats and whatever turns the monsters/children on!

PIG dates

Thanks to everyone who came along on Weds 19th - it was lovely to see you and meet some new faces. Looks like the children enjoyed playing the games, so this is definitely something to continue. I have some ideas for some bricolage sessions- especially with Halloween coming up - which I'd love to run past you next time.

Next Wednesday meetings are...
October 3 and 18 (Halloween making session at my house!)
November 7 and 21
December 5 and 19 (Christmas party - howabout the Haribo factory at Uzés?!)

I've been asked about the best ages for children in PIG. Anyone up to 5 or 6 seems to have fun, after that they become teenagers and don't want to hang out with little children!

Game, set and match

Next time we meet it'll be at the MPT Melina Mercouri, Montpellier. We have a new start time of 15h30, which gives us even more time to be late. But this year the format will be less structured. The plan is (listen very carefully I will say this only once) that you rock up with your darling bilingual children and bring a game to share with the other children, of around the same age as yours. If your game gets picked you get to play with the children, if not, you get to bavarde like a bavarding thing with the other parents. Back up game is the fabulous 'are you sleeping Mr Wolf' but I'm not going to be only parent running around like a loony... or am I?!

See you on Wednesday September 19 or at the Foire Des Association, Sunday 9 in Montpellier. Outbound will be in Place de Thessalie and is booked onto emplacement 690 - come and say hello!

La rentrée - or back to work folks

Now here's a thing, last year we had so much fun with Montessori- PIG doing the songs for us that we're going to have to do something completely different this year. I'm just not a 7-foot children magnet!

So, every first and third Wednesday PIG will be a Café des Parents - sort of old style PIG - but with us taking turns at playing games with the children, while the others get a chance to catch-up/debate or exchange old copies of Private Eye/Hello.

I'm sure this will work if we all want it to. Games are the bilingual way forward! I discovered 1000 bornes this summer - a great French board game, which is (cheesey bit here) fun for all the family. The older children are certainly able to get much out of playing these games, especially if they remember to do it in English!

To get PIG going, before the MPT gears up again, you are all very welcome to chez BIG-PIG on the first Wednesday of September - the 5th. After than it's off to the MPT.

Hello chaps - hope you're all having a good summer so far.

Tots to France is a great company that promotes child-friendly holiday homes.Wendy Shand wants to franchise out the regions of France. She says "This makes good sense (we think!) as it will allow us to add more properties, maintain our very specific knowledge of the properties that we offer in each region, fix problems when they arrive and so on. Really we want/need someone on the ground who might be interested in being part of what we are up to. They would own the franchise for the region, deal with customer enquiries, sales etc, vet and add new properties. We will provide all the ‘know how’ but really it is a question of finding the right person to do something like this. Any thoughts gratefully accepted!!" Skools's out for summer - and so are we! PIG is on holiday but feel free to use this space (or the emails) to get in touch with everyone if you fancy doing something with the PIG crowd.

End of term party

No more MPT until September now - that's it for the summer now. Yes I know it's still only mid-June but this is France where everything stops for July and August. Well that is all, except PIG. We'll still keep meeting but less regularly and it's up to us all to propose venues and dates. I'm not around on July 4th so you guys should post comments/emails to sort out a meeting...

Until then Singing PIG has kindly offered her pool and palatial grounds - Woo Hoo - for our end of term party/gouter/fete. Email PIG if you need directions, but the rest of you know where it is. So see you there on Wednesday 27th June around 3.30pm
